1. There is One God, the Eternal, the Only Being; none exists save God.

Surah Ikhlas (Quran al Hakim)

Transliteration:

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Raheem

  • Qul huwa Allahu ahad
  • Allah hu samad
  • Lam yalid wa lam yulad
  • Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Say: He is Allah, the One and Only!
Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
He begetteth not, nor is He begotten.
And there is none like unto Him.

2. There is One Master, the Guiding Spirit of all Souls, Who constantly leads followers towards the light.

Indeed, God bestowed a favour upon the believers when he raised up in their midst an apostle from among themselves, to convey His messages unto them, and to cause them to grow in purity, and to impart unto them the divine writ as well as wisdom – whereas before that they were indeed, most obviously, lost in error. (Q, 3:164)

3. There is One Holy Book, the sacred manuscript of nature, the only scripture which can enlighten the reader.

We will show them Our signs in the universe and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that this ˹Quran˺ is the truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a Witness over all things? (Q, 41:53)

4. There is One Religion, the unswerving progress in the right direction towards the ideal, which fulfils the life’s purpose of every soul.

This was the advice of Abraham—as well as Jacob—to his children, ˹saying˺, “Indeed, Allah has chosen for you this faith; so do not die except in ˹a state of full˺ submission.” (Q, 2:132).

5. There is One Law, the law of reciprocity, which can be observed by a selfless conscience together with a sense of awakened justice.

And so, he who shall have done an atom’s weight of good, shall behold it. (Q, 99:7)
and he who shall have done an atom’s weight of evil, shall behold it.
(Q, 99:8)

6. There is One Brotherhood and Sisterhood, the human brotherhood and sisterhood, which unites the children of earth indiscriminately in the Parenthood of God.

(All) people are a single nation. (Q, 2:213)

7. There is One Moral, the love which springs forth from self-denial, and blooms in deeds of beneficence.

Be Kind, as Allah has been kind to you.
(Q, 28:77)

8. There is One Object of Praise, the beauty which uplifts the heart of its worshippers through all aspects from the seen to the unseen.

The seven heavens and the earth and all that is therein, glorify Him and there is not a thing but glorifies His Praise. But you understand not their glorification. Truly, He is Ever Forbearing, Oft-Forgiving.(Q, 17:44)

9. There is One Truth, the true knowledge of our being, within and without, which is the essence of all wisdom.

And by the soul and the One Who fashioned it
Then with the knowledge of right and wrong inspired it
Successful indeed is the one that purifies his soul. (Q, 91: 7-9)

10. There is One Path, the annihilation of the false ego in the real, which raises the mortal to immortality, and in which resides all perfection.

For me, I have set my face, firmly and truly, towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, and never shall I give partners to Allah.” (Q, 6:79)
